WEDDING RING GUIDE
An engagement ring is chosen once, but a wedding band is worn every day beside it. Here's how to choose one that fits your ring and your life.
Start with your engagement ring
Look at how your engagement ring meets the finger. A low-set solitaire usually sits neatly against a flat band. A ring with a halo, a low basket or a wide profile often needs a fitted or contoured band that curves around it, so the two sit together without a gap.
Match or contrast your metal
Choosing the same metal as your engagement ring gives a seamless, single-piece look. Mixing yellow, white and rose gold, or platinum, adds contrast and lets each ring stand on its own. All our bands are made in 18k gold or platinum. See our precious metals guide.
Plain, pavé or eternity
A plain band is timeless and easy to wear. A half-eternity or pavé band adds sparkle across the top of the finger while staying comfortable. A full eternity band carries diamonds all the way around, but it's harder to resize later.
Think about width
A band a similar width to your engagement ring's band usually looks the most balanced. Slim bands of 2–2.5mm suit delicate settings. Wider bands suit bolder designs and larger hands.
See them together
The best way to choose is to try bands on beside your engagement ring. Book an appointment at the Strand Arcade or QVB, or browse all wedding bands.
