Tips for measuring her finger without giving away the surprise

Buying an engagement ring while keeping it a surprise means you need her ring size without her knowing. Here’s how:

Borrow a Ring

Borrow one she already wears on the intended finger. Take it to a jeweller or use a ring size chart at home. Make sure it’s worn on the correct finger.

Trace or Press

If borrowing isn’t possible, trace the inside of one of her rings on paper, or press it into soft soap or clay. A jeweller can determine the size from the imprint.

Ask a Friend or Family Member

A sister, best friend, or parent may already know her size or can help measure discreetly.

Estimate Carefully

Most women wear sizes 6–7 (US sizing). If unsure, choose slightly larger — resizing later is easier than making it smaller.
